OIA’s Referral Program Who can participate: All current OIA Registrants may refer an applicant. Applicants would go through the standard application process to be approved. University of Guelph and Algonquin applicants are also accepted under this referral program. As usual, the A.Ag. process can be fast tracked if the applicant has over 2 years of full-time employment directly related to agrology. The fast-tracked process requires the Articling Agrologist to complete the P&E course, a presentation, and attend an OIA meeting. The ‘referred’ applicant will receive a $50 discount on their annual dues for up to two years, or until they complete the articling agrologist (A.Ag.) process (whichever is shorter). Once the referred applicant completes their A.Ag. process, the Registrant who referred the applicant receives $50 off their next annual dues. OIA Registrants may refer up to 3 applicants a year and receive credit towards their annual dues to a maximum of $150 towards their annual dues. Retired Registrants may refer 1 applicant per year and receive a $50 credit towards their annual dues. However, referring more applicants is always welcomed beyond this referral program initiative! How it works- 2 Options: 1) Simple Way- New applicants referred to OIA will be prompted during the application process to indicate who referred them. The name of the referring OIA Registrant is captured in the application and once the A.Ag. completes their articling period, the credit towards the annual dues is applied to the referring OIA Registrant for the following year's annual renewal. So basically, all you have to do is send the referral applicant to the website to complete the application like always! 2) Techy Way- Login to your OIA profile via the website. Click 'Connections' on the top menu. At the right-hand menu enter the new applicant's email under 'Refer a Professional', follow the prompts.
