New Applicants

Required Documents:
OIA requires all degree(s), WES Report (if your diploma/degree is from another country), transcripts and a resume to be uploaded during the application process.

Fees:
An application fee of $150 plus HST is non-refundable. 

Timeline:
The Registration Committee reviews applications every 4-8 weeks depending on demand. The OIA office will be in contact with the committee's decision. Once approved into the Articling Agrologist Program, your application fee is applied towards your OIA membership for the current year. An official welcome letter will be forwarded to you and your registration certificate will be available for download from your online profile you may also start using your A.Ag. designation in your correspondence.


Articling Agrologist (A.Ag.) Program


Regardless of experience and education all P.Ag. and T.Ag. candidates enter into an Articling Agrologist program and have a short articling period.  The Articling Agrologist (A.Ag.) program typically lasts 1-2 years as the Agrologist in training must complete the following requirements before being considered for a P.Ag. or T.Ag. designation.  The articling process requires that an A.Ag. must:

  • Demonstrate a minimum of two years of employment in agrology, with at least one year of continual agrology employment in Ontario;
  • Complete OIA’s Professionalism and Ethics course;
  • Provide a presentation to an OIA Branch 
  • Log your Professional Development hours within your online profile, a minimum of 35 hours per year;
  • Attend an OIA Conference/Annual General Meeting.

Professional or Technical Agrologists with Another Provincial Institute

It's faster than ever to obtain dual membership or transfer between provincial associations!

  1. Please select either Transfer from another province or Dual membership and fill out the online application to select your areas of focus, branch, privacy settings, etc.
  2. Send an email between your home Institute and info@oia.on.ca requesting that your home Institute provide your resume, transcripts, proof that you are a member in good standing, and any other relevant records.

This process should be completed in 1-3 weeks. An initial application fee of $150. P.Ag. and T.Ag. is required and a $450 annual membership fee.
