Presenter: Christina Marie Rochus, Ph.D. (Agr.), Ph.D., A.Ag. will present on the topic of  “Breeding resilient livestock”

Dr. Christina Marie Rochus (Chrissy) is a Research Associate at the Centre for Genetic Improvement of Livestock at the University of Guelph and uses genomic data to study resilience in dairy cattle.  Chrissy received her BSc in Animal Biology and MSc in Integrative Biology from the University of Guelph; double PhD in Animal Breeding and Genetics from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, AgroParisTech and INRAE Toulouse; and postdoctoral training at Uppsala University, Cornell University, and Wageningen University.  Chrissy has studied genetic diversity and adaptation in a variety of domestic species including dairy cattle, Atlantic salmon, sheep, chicken, pig, and turkey, and has over 12 years of research experience resulting in over 25 coauthored peer-reviewed publications, conference papers, and technical reports for the animal breeding industry.
