Arias MSc., RMCCM, EP, A.Ag.will present on the topic of “The impact of livestock animal disease events on the Canadian agriculture industry and a the influence of industry and government on the development of plans and measures undertaken for strategies such as Avian Influenza, African Swine Fever and Foot and Mouth Disease virus.”
Josh is a Management Consultant with Serecon and manages a diverse portfolio of projects in the agriculture and renewable energy industry, however a primary interest of his is focused on animal health emergency management and biosecurity. With the recent widespread outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza, detection of African Swine Fever in North America and ever looming threat of Foot and Mouth Disease, his work has been involved with the development and strategic implementation of strategies to effectively prepare for emergency management situations during peace time, and have effective management strategies during an emergency situation.
This presentation provides a high-level review of National strategies for managing Foreign Animal Diseases focusing on Avian Influenza, African Swine Fever and Foot and Mouth Disease. It will further focus on Ontario provincial strategies and it will highlight current work done by public and private industry groups to effectively implement emergency management strategies and the creation of entities such as Animal Health Canada.
