Guest Speaker: Dr. Viliam Zvalo, Research Scientist, Vegetable Production, Vineland Research and Innovation Centre
Viliam holds a PhD in Plant Physiology/Soil Ecology from the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra, Slovakia and an Executive MBA from Saint Mary’s University in Halifax. Viliam brings a wealth of experience after spending 13 years at Perennia Food and Agriculture Inc. in Nova Scotia. While at Perennia, he was instrumental in the development of a commercial sweet potato industry in Nova Scotia, while also introducing other new crops to the region such as hops, brassica greens and oilseed pumpkin. At Vineland he is leading the World Crop Program with objective to develop production systems for non-traditional crops such as okra, Chinese long and Indian round eggplants.
