The OIA Professionalism and Ethics Course is appropriate for Articling Agrologists working toward becoming designated professionals (P.Ag.s or T.Ag.s), as well as individuals seeking qualification as a farm business advisor under the federal-provincial initiative. The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture has specific submission requirements to become a certified farm business advisor, including “proof of membership in good standing with a professional organization which has a code of ethics or successful completion of a course on professionalism and ethics within the last five years”. OIA members and non-members who require a professionalism and ethics course are invited to register.
This online, six-module course curriculum is designed to:
- Explore the responsibilities of professionalism in general;
- Enable Agrologists to investigate professional ethics in the agricultural workplace; and
- Consider the importance of continuing professional development throughout their career.
It explores topics on what constitutes professional and ethical practices, why those practices are considered professional and ethical, and questionable scenarios that challenge the grey areas of this complex subject matter.
To sign up for the OIA P&E course, please follow the Register link below or contact the OIA Director of Finance and Administration by email or by phone at 1-866-339-7619 Ext-232. A certificate of completion will be issued to all those who achieve a passing grade.
